Christine is a University Of Washington graduate, Master of Public Administration, Graduate School of Public Affairs. From 1995 to 1999 she was Project Manager and Business Development Officer for the U.S. Agency for International Development, where she counseled Northwest businesses and organizations on humanitarian assistance and commercial opportunities overseas. Christine also spent time at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow managing environmental and economic development projects for USAID. From 2000-2006 she worked as a council member for the City of Bainbridge Island. (Christine On LinkedIn)

Since her election to the state House of Representatives in 2007, she has served the 23^rd Legislative District (central and north Kitsap County) as a leading voice on education funding and reform, small businesses, ferries, military-families and veterans, and the environment. Christine sits on the Early Learning and K-12 Education, Rules and Ways & Means committees in addition to serving as Senate Democratic floor leader. “From the 2001 Nisqually Earthquake to the next BIG ONE”

Understanding earthquake risks in Kitsap County is important to individuals and businesses alike. Washington State sits in the center of the Cascadia Subduction Zone and one of the larger faults, the Seattle Fault Line, runs right through Kitsap County. Find out how the state and county have learned from the last major earthquake and how they are preparing for the next one. We’re gong to start off with Colleen’s 10 minute MA Presentation (which will be filmed), then we’ll roundtable questions and discussion.

How will B.I. survive until the county/ state/ FEMA arrives in 3 days, 2 weeks, 1 month? Earthquake proof structures – are your business’ buildings (e.g. OfficeXpats) up to code? Your insurance? Backup plan for school kids – is there someone else you have authorized to pick up your kids?

B.I. will have finite resources, including drinkable water, if there’s no power. Make sure you have a regularly updated stock of supplies. The issue is not just for your home, but for the impact on your business, especially the economic impact for your own work as well as for local economic sustainability and the regional/ national economic situation. (But … DON’T PANIC!)
